Distance learning and education on demand has been implemented at many universities and colleges that market educational services to students beyond their geographical boundaries. Many have been attracted by the promise of flexible study schedules, the ability to work and study, and the promise of education without having to physically attend class.However, the collaborative nature of software engineering poses an interesting challenge to computer science students who wish to study the topic through distance education. This paper outlines four issues in developing a software engineering program through Distance Learning. Specifically, what technological, learning methods, course content, and organizational issues enable the development of a software engineering program through distance education?
